YEAR EIGHT HOMEWORK
| TERM 1 (first half) STILL LIFE1. Decorate the front of your new sketchbook. Include your name, form and teacher’s name.
2. Choose 4/5 real objects from the kitchen or the bathroom. Group them together so that they touch each other. Draw and shade them so that they look 3 dimensional. 3. Copy the Cubist still life image given to you. Shade or colour it. Write down the name of the artist and describe his work. 4. Use the objects you drew for homework 2 and draw the group in a Cubist style. Leave this as an outline drawing. 5. Collage over last week’s drawing using fabric, wallpaper, newspaper, corrugated card, foil etc. |
TERM 1 (second half) STILL LIFE1. Draw a cereal box (or washing powder box), from an angle, to show the top, front and side. Include the lettering and design.
2. Add colour to your work. 3. Draw a half eaten chocolate bar, including the wrapper. Shade your work. 4. Two week homework Sketch 2 pieces of fruit, side by side. Complete them in colour using a pointillist style. |

| TERM 2 (first half) PATTERN1. Two week homework. Write your first name in bold letters across your page. Shade or colour the letters.
Draw the mirror image underneath. 2. Draw a design for a plate based on sea-life. Add colour. 3. Copy a face card, in colour. 4. Design your own face card. You don’t have to use human faces! |
TERM 2 (second half) PATTERN1. You will be given an Op Art image. Copy it, or make up your own. Make the lines bold. Use black and white or colour. Write about it.
2. Draw the patterns from 2 things you have found in your house. Shade or colour. Label. 3. Divide your page into 6 squares. Fill a square with a shape from any of your drawings. Copy the same thing into every square. Colour or shade your repeat pattern. 4. Fold up your school tie with stripes showing. Draw and shade it. 5. Design a necklace using any of the patterns you have drawn this term. Shade or colour. |

| TERM 3 (first half) FLOWERS1. Three week homework. Across 2 pages in your book, make a mixed media piece of work based on flowers.
2. Draw a real flower. It could be a weed from the garden/yard or even part of a house plant. Add colour or shading. 3. Look for a stylized flower on a bag, wallpaper, clothing etc. Copy it in colour. |
TERM 3 (second half) FLOWERS1. Use a strip of card to make a bookmark. Decorate it using flowers, insects and/or butterflies.
2. Draw a pattern that includes flowers, insects and butterflies. Use colour. 3. Two week homework. Make a relief piece based on insects, or butterflies. Use any materials . |
REMEMBER:
1. Produce the best work you can each time to achieve the best level possible each half term.
2. Spend at least 30mins on each piece of homework.
3. You have been given a good quality sketchbook. Do not tear out any pages. It will last you the whole year if you use both sides of every page.
4. If you lose your sketchbook you will be charged £1 for a new one, or you can provide a plain A4 sketchbook from another source.
5. Even if you are absent when the homework is set, you are expected to complete each piece of work on the list. Ask any of the art teachers or your friends for advice if you are unsure.
6. You may use the art rooms, when they are open at breaks, to complete homework.
